The famous Wadi or orchards of the Huteesing merchant and industrialist family, related to the famous Lalbhai group of industrialists and J Nehru, has a cluster of fabulous temples dated from the mid-19th century. The main temple is modeled along the line of Dilwara, with fine carvings and jeweled idols. Around it are about 52 smaller shrines. A delicate carved tower rises near the gate of the temple complex, and looks mesmerizing in the moonlight. The monuments of Ahmedabad speaks of its past glory and its present prosperity. Its mosques and tombs are unpretentious in size but rich in detail and the delicate tracery and ornamented minarets make them distinctively Indian. One of the attractions of visiting these places is that, since all these are located generally within th walled city, they provide an insinght into the "havelis", "pols" and narrow by lanes of Ahmedabad. Well, when U do venture out into these areas make sure that you have a few landmards to return you back coz entering into one lane will get you into an entirely new Zone. *********** Fast Food joints and Discotheque's !! Well then this is the site you'd better be connected to, coz the city of Ahmedabad is this and lots more. After all it�s the largest city and the erstwhile capital of Gujarat.So if you happen to come across the word 'change' read it as'Ahmedabad'. Maybe the adaptation to change is imbibed in the spirit of Ahmedabad from the very first time it was built. Right from the time of 27th February, 1411 when the Fort of Bhadra was built by King Ahmed Shah and Ahmedabad was established on 4th March 1411, to the remaking of C.G. Road in 1996, Ahmedabad has been silently revolutionising itself to the changes in the perception of each of its coming generations. As one of the famous legend goes Jab kutte Pe Sassa Aaaya Tab AhmedShah Badshah ne sahar Basaya. When King Ahmed Shah was travelling in search of a place to establish his capital city he chanced to come near the banks of Sabarmati River. Here he was surprised to find a hare chasing a dog. This set him thinking about the unique combination of gentleness and bravery of the localities made him decide to shift his capital city from Patan to Ahmedabad. This is how Ahmedabad was established which today nurtures in its fold pages of history, a breath of harmony & a showcase of exquisite architecture. The charm of Ahmedabad lies in its multicultural diversity, which is why a peep into the sightseeing places of Ahmedabad is a must so as to understand it better.Ahmedabad has a unique combination of religious places & historical sites which adds to the gaiety of this place and is the second largest prosperous city in Western India and a place where tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. | ||||||||||||||||
